Bronze
Bronze is a copper alloy containing 3.5-4.5% tin and Cu-DHP oxygen-free phosphorus de-oxidised copper, used in sheet and strip form for architectural applications. It develops a weathering patina over time, transitioning from initial oxide layers to a stable green patina depending on climate and exposure.
Bronze sheets serve as durable cladding, roofing, and decorative elements in styles like Art Nouveau, houses, and villas, often paired with brick and stone. Its UV resistance, non-rot properties, and resistance to defrosting support long-term exterior use.
Production relies on recycled copper scrap with small tin additions, achieving near 100% recyclability at end-of-life, though energy generation dominates impact categories in EPDs. Avoid primary copper sources to minimize upstream emissions.
