Paint

Paint is a liquid coating applied to architectural surfaces, typically consisting of pigment, binder, solvent, and additives, that dries to form a protective and decorative film. Waterborne acrylic paints, such as dryfall types, are formulated for overhead application in commercial and industrial settings, settling as sweepable dust to minimize cleanup.

Used on interior ceilings and overhead substrates including concrete, drywall, plaster, wood, and metals in warehouses, sports venues, and tilt-up concrete walls. Often paired with concrete and stucco in coastal buildings, housing, and residential complexes for protection and aesthetics.

Embodied carbon varies by formulation; waterborne acrylics have lower VOC emissions than solvent-based but rely on titanium dioxide pigment with high production energy. EPDs report product-stage impacts dominated by resin and pigment manufacturing.
