Material
Water serves as a fundamental construction material in architecture, used in its pure liquid form for features like pools, baths, and water elements within bathhouses, hospitality, and landscape projects. It appears alongside concrete and quartzite in saved.archi works, enabling fluid, reflective surfaces integral to spatial design.
Employed in bathhouses for immersive bathing experiences, in hospitality for decorative water features and therapeutic pools, and in landscapes for cascading elements and reflective pools. Paired with concrete for structural basins and quartzite for durable, aesthetic edging.
Water itself has negligible embodied carbon, but heating or pumping for architectural features increases operational energy use; sourcing and treatment can involve energy-intensive processes depending on local infrastructure.
