Role summary
This is a rare opportunity to join a successful, family-owned modular construction business experiencing significant national growth. Delivering projects across Australia, the business is seeking a talented designer to lead the design and drafting process for high-quality modular residential projects. You'll take projects from initial client consultation through to construction-ready documentation, producing engaging 3D models and ensuring every project is accurately documented before construction begins. Key Responsibilities • Meet with clients (primarily online) alongside the Sales team to understand project requirements • Prepare schematic 2D floor plans and concept layouts • Develop detailed 3D models, walkthroughs and presentation material for client approval • Produce accurate construction documentation and ensure compliance with relevant building standards • Coordinate drawings with external consultants and internal stakeholders • Review and quality-check documentation prior to construction • Assist with resolving design and documentation queries during construction when required • Work closely with the drafting team to continually improve documentation quality and project delivery Skills & Experience • Experience in residential, modular, prefabricated or light commercial projects • Strong 3D modelling and visual presentation skills • Experience preparing construction documentation • Confident communicating directly with clients and presenting design solutions • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills • Ability to coordinate consultants and manage multiple projects • Experience using SketchUp or ArchiCAD preferred • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach Benefits & Culture • Relocation assistance available for interstate or regional candidates • Car allowance available for the right person • Opportunity to take ownership of the design function and make a genuine impact • Supportive team environment with established systems, templates and processes • Genuine long-term career progression as the business continues to expand • Employer sponsorship may be available for exceptional candidates
