Role summary
We are seeking a Project Architect / Project Manager to join a growing and highly respected design practice in Chapel Hill, NC. This role is ideal for an experienced architect who enjoys balancing project leadership, technical execution, and client engagement while contributing to impactful higher education, housing, and mixed-use projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects from early design through construction. Role and Responsibilities • Lead and manage architectural projects through all phases of design and construction. • Coordinate project teams, consultants, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. • Develop and oversee project schedules, deliverables, and documentation. • Contribute to design development, technical detailing, and construction administration. • Prepare presentations, feasibility studies, and project-related graphics. • Support client relationship management and participate in project meetings and presentations. • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative design solutions. • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative studio culture. • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high-quality design and technical standards. Experience and Qualifications • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program. • Architectural licensure preferred or actively pursuing licensure. • 10+ years of experience within an architecture or design firm. • Experience managing projects through multiple phases of design and construction. • Higher education project experience preferred. • Multifamily housing experience beneficial. • Strong Revit proficiency and production experience. • Proficiency in SketchUp, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign preferred. • Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills. • Demonstrated project management and leadership potential. • Ability to build strong client relationships and work effectively in a collaborative environment. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
