Part II Architectural Assistant

A boutique, high-end architectural practice recognised for its design excellence and rigorous quality is seeking a talented Part II Architectural Assistant to join their close-knit studio in central London. With a selective approach to design, this boutique practice has established an exceptional reputation for delivering high-quality, highly crafted projects across private residential, education, arts & culture, and hospitality. This role presents an incredible opportunity to work on prestigious schemes, including high-profile projects, overseas client portfolios, complex Grade II listed retrofits, and bespoke residential works. Key Responsibilities: • Assist in the delivery of design and technical packages across RIBA Stages 1 to 7, contributing to both early-stage creative feasibility studies and detailed construction packages. • Support project teams in developing technical details, managing complex planning and listed building constraints, and addressing bespoke technical challenges on sensitive historic structures. • Produce clear spatial, planning, and technical drawings using VectorWorks, with active involvement in the studio’s transition to Revit. • Incorporate key sustainability standards and accessibility requirements seamlessly into early design and technical packages. • Assist in coordinating consultant information, working alongside structural, MEP, and heritage specialists. • Support the project team during site visits, assisting with inspections, resolving design queries, and ensuring high-quality execution. Qualifications: • RIBA Part II qualification (or equivalent) with strong design sensibility and technical aptitude. • Proven experience working within the UK architectural sector, ideally across high-end residential, listed/heritage, or educational projects. • Strong proficiency in VectorWorks with knowledge of, or a desire to learn and transition into, Revit. • Demonstrated interest and experience in working with listed buildings (Grade II) and complex retrofits is highly desirable. • Sound knowledge of UK planning procedures, Building Regulations, accessibility standards, and sustainable design frameworks. • Excellent problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and strong graphic/communication capabilities.
